RDX Sports VS Everlast – Who’s The #1 Boxing Brand?

This article was last updated in October 2026

When comparing boxing and combat sports brands, RDX Sports vs Everlast is a common topic for athletes looking for quality, performance, and value for money. Everlast has a long history in boxing, with legendary fighters such as Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson associated with the brand. RDX Sports, meanwhile, has built its reputation around modern designs, innovative materials, and affordable combat sports gear.

But how do these brands rank in terms of quality, comfort, durability, and overall performance? Which offers better value for beginners and experienced fighters? Let’s compare RDX Sports and Everlast to see which brand comes out on top.

Brand Background and Philosophy

RDX Sports – Modern Engineering Meets Affordability

Founded in the United Kingdom in 1999, RDX Sports set out to make world-class combat gear accessible to everyone. Instead of focusing on legacy marketing, RDX built its reputation through engineering innovation, introducing features like EVA-Lution Foam, Quadro-Dome construction, and Maya Hide leather that deliver pro-level performance at mid-range prices.

The brand has grown into a global powerhouse, now shipping to over 60 countries. What sets RDX apart is its science-first approach; each glove or pad design is tested and refined through athlete feedback and biomechanics analysis before it hits the market.

Everlast – The Timeless Boxing Icon

Everlast, founded in 1910 in New York, is practically a part of boxing history. Its gloves have graced the hands of countless champions and movie icons. The brand’s biggest strength lies in heritage and recognition; it’s the name most people associate with traditional boxing.

However, over time, Everlast’s focus shifted toward mass-market production. While it still produces solid mid-range and professional gear, much of its catalogue now appeals to casual users, with quality varying by line and manufacturing origin.

In short, Everlast sells legacy. RDX sells innovation.

Build Quality and Design

RDX Sports – Designed with Precision

RDX gloves consistently receive high marks for stitching integrity, wrist alignment, and padding distribution.
Models like the RDX F7, T13, and Ego Series feature:

• Maya Hide leather that rivals genuine cowhide in flexibility and lifespan.
• Quadro-Dome mold for even shock absorption.
• EVA-Lution Foam layers that enhance impact resistance.
• Ventilation mesh panels that prevent heat buildup.

The gloves are ergonomically shaped to maintain a natural fist position, reducing wrist strain during long training sessions.

Everlast – Traditional Build, Mixed Consistency

Everlast’s PowerLock and Pro Style Elite gloves are staples in gyms worldwide. They offer respectable padding and comfort, particularly in the higher-end models used by pros. But the mid-tier and budget options often rely on synthetic leather that shows wear faster than expected.

While Everlast’s stitching quality and comfort are adequate, it hasn’t kept pace with modern material advances. As noted in Men’s Health training gear reviews, many athletes today look for “smart ventilation, adaptive foam layering, and lighter materials,” areas where RDX clearly leads.

Performance in Real Training

A glove’s true worth is proven not in product specs, but in the ring.

RDX in Action

Users across boxing, MMA, and Muay Thai communities praise RDX gloves for their stable wrist feel and balanced padding.
On forums like r/MuayThai and Boxing News Online, fighters highlight RDX’s ability to handle heavy bag sessions without palm fatigue. The RDX F7 and T13 series in particular are known for consistent impact cushioning and secure wrist lock, making them ideal for both sparring and pad work.

RDX’s glove weight balance, neither too front-heavy nor too compact, makes transitions between offense and defense feel natural. The breathable lining also stands out during long sparring rounds, where sweat build-up can otherwise become an issue.

Everlast in the Ring

Everlast gloves deliver classic comfort, especially the PowerLock Pro line. However, multiple reviews and social discussions suggest that the brand’s lower and mid-range gloves don’t offer the same endurance as they once did. Padding tends to compress faster, and wrist stiffness can develop after extended use.

Professional fighters may still trust Everlast’s higher-end models, but for the average user, the experience can vary significantly depending on where the gloves are manufactured.

Durability and Longevity

When it comes to gear longevity, RDX’s design philosophy pays off.

• RDX gloves typically last between 2–3 years of regular training without major wear, according to verified user reviews on sports forums and independent blogs.
• The brand’s Maya Hide material is engineered to resist cracking, peeling, and sweat degradation.
• The inner padding retains shape even under daily heavy-bag use.

By contrast, Everlast gloves, especially entry-level models, often show signs of flattening padding and loose stitching after a year of intense use.
Reports in Forbes Vetted product comparisons and Sports Illustrated gear tests highlight similar concerns, strong initial comfort, but less impressive long-term resilience.

RDX’s combination of mid-range pricing and extended durability makes it an outstanding investment, particularly for consistent trainees.

Comfort and Fit

Comfort determines how long you can train effectively. Here again, RDX takes a performance-driven approach.

RDX Sports

• Offers multiple sizes and weight options (8oz–16oz) suitable for various disciplines.
• Uses pre-curved padding for a natural fist position, reducing knuckle fatigue.
• Anti-slip inner linings keep the glove stable during high-intensity rounds.
• Enhanced breathable mesh channels improve airflow, something athletes often overlook until mid-session.

Everlast

• Features a traditional fit with firm padding.
• Comfortable during the first months, though stiffness can persist.
• Ventilation varies greatly by model; budget variants can feel overly warm.

A comparative comfort test by a Sports Illustrated contributor found that RDX’s wrist contouring provided “a more adaptive fit for dynamic movement drills,” while Everlast felt more rigid, suitable for traditionalists, but less forgiving for hybrid training.

Price-to-Performance Comparison

Below is a summary comparison of how the two brands measure up on key metrics:

RDX clearly dominates the price-to-performance ratio, offering nearly identical functionality to Everlast’s professional lines at a fraction of the price.
That’s why many online reviewers call RDX “the best kept secret in modern boxing gear.”

Who Should Choose Which?

Choose RDX Sports if:

• You train multiple times per week and want lasting quality without overspending.
• You value modern design and comfort, from ventilation to wrist alignment.
• You need gloves versatile enough for boxing, Muay Thai, or fitness circuits.
• You’re upgrading from entry-level gloves and want a pro feel at a smart price.

Choose Everlast if:

• You prioritise heritage and classic aesthetics.
• You use gloves occasionally for light workouts or display purposes.
• You’re loyal to legacy brands with cultural prestige.

Both brands have a place in the fight world, but for those chasing pure performance, RDX is the smarter, more practical investment.

Expert and Community Feedback

From the Boxing Community

On Reddit and various Facebook boxing groups, long-term users often report that RDX gloves maintain padding density longer than Everlast equivalents. Fighters in their second or third year of training consistently cite RDX’s balance of protection and affordability.

From Sports Editors

• Men’s Health gear editors commend RDX’s “exceptional blend of innovation and value.”
• Forbes Vetted calls RDX “a legitimate alternative to legacy brands, delivering pro-grade materials in consumer-level pricing.”
• Boxing News Online notes that RDX has become a common choice even among semi-pro gyms across Europe and the Middle East.

Such cross-platform praise builds credibility beyond marketing; it’s performance validated through real-world testing.

Verdict: Why RDX Sports Wins

While Everlast will always hold its place in boxing history, RDX Sports is shaping the sport’s future.

RDX combines:

• Advanced materials (EVA-Lution Foam, Quadro-Dome padding)
• Superior craftsmanship backed by athlete testing
• Long-term durability
• Competitive pricing that opens access to all fighters

For most modern boxers, RDX offers Everlast-level quality at a significantly better price. It’s the perfect example of a brand that listens to its community, adapts to athlete needs, and consistently delivers value that outlasts expectations.
